Still having problems with this wheeler. The battery is dead. I don't know if it is because it is not charging or what the problem is. With the battery cables hooked up I show now increase in voltage when it is running. With the calbes unhooked and touching the multimeter to the cables only there is no voltage. Does this mean my regulator / rectifier is bad? Is there a way to test these regulators? Please help.

it most likely is your stator and not the rectifier...usually when a rectifier goes bad the voltage is extremely high when just the battery leads are connected to the voltmeter...and you tend to make the electronics on the bike fry..like the coil....but i never deald with that bike ...or for that matter a yamaha
