View Full Version : Question
How do I tell what needs to be replaced? When I had the engine in the trike, everytime I tried to kickstart it, the kickstart lever would skip some teeth before it would turn the engine over. What do I look at?

was it the actual kicl lever that was slipping or was it internal? it looks as though the splines are good, but you must make sure that the bolt that holds the lever onto the shaft is good and tight. if it is not, it will slip on the shaft and eventually strip it out.if it is internal, you must split the cases.

It's internal, and I'm in the process of tearing it down right now.

Honda makes an update kit that will not strip, you just need that kit from Honda. It's just some internal teeth chipped off, prob.......

Kick start gears stripping is 83-85 200x's main problem. You have to split the case to get to the gears.
