never heard it but I imagine it would be a high pitched squealing. raise the rear of the trike offf the ground and shake the axle checking for play in it.

well there is play but not much more than what there was a week ago.
well the sound is diffently a squeling sound but along w/ it is a sound like there is a rock that is being rolled between two peices of metal about every 3 turns of the axel

In my experience its always been a grinding, crunching, snapping noise. Better change them as soon as possible.

depending on whitch side its on as to how much play it will have.i have seen the bearing go out and it allowed the brake drum to ride on the brake shoe. so if the brakes are snug in the drum it can hide a bad bearing for a little while, but it will sound like hell

you need to replace your bearings ass soon as possible. My 1986 200x bearings blew and it sounded like there was a rock in side it to. It was the bearing balls scraping up the bearing carrier.
change those bearings.

When you start to get play in your bearings that means there on their way out.
on the SX when the hub becomes luse on the axle shaft, bearings need replaceing.
Bearing to axle have a preload torque( no play):nono:
