i have had a top end miss from the day i got my 250r. i found the head gasket leaking so i decided to fix it. today i pull the head and install some boysen power reeds. finally i am ready to put the head back on. as i snug up the head nuts i noticed the rear one never snugged up. (where it leaked). so now i pull the head back off and discover that the stud is pulling out. the previous owner and over torqued it. well now i pull the jug to get a heli coil. when i got the jug off i noticed the piston is galled on the rear. so now i top end problem has cost me a set of reeds, helicoil, piston, rings, bore, a billion plugs.so what compression would you go with?

don't you just love the old bikes???? two strokes are not like four strokes , they don't make diff compression pistons , you go to the next oversized one . some pistons are marked on the top what size they are . some in thousands some in mm if your not sure then take it in and have it measured, you got it cheap enough so spend the cash!!!! we gotta ride you know!!!!!

welcome to the wonderful world of 2sucks...uhh, 2 stroked...uhh, 2 strokes! Kasey is right, just get the next oversize and bore the cylinder...or if your cylinder looks ok just get another in the same size and let her rip.

recreationunlimited.com sells a forged piston kit that includes gaskets, rod bearing, piston, and pin for $100.

if you do need a bore be careful who you get to do it, it's not hard for a machine shop to screw up a 2stroke boring job (ask me how I know THAT  )

You mean for the boring? I haven't used Paul so I donno if he has a clue or not. ;) I wouldn't buy the parts from him though. :D Have you told him that thing runs yet? If you haven't...don't. I wanna spring it on him. :lmao:

check with the Polaris place...if they don't do it they should be able to tell you who can since alot of those things are 2strokes. FYI, I paid $30 to have mine bored the first time (and they totally f*cked it up) and $35 the second time (we'll see how that went soon).
