What type of bearings are there in the swing arm for the rear axle? If I rock the bike side to side, I can see the swing arm move but not the axle. This play has me concerned.

Also are there any exhaust pipes for this bike the are fairly quiet? I know it will never be really quiet but something has got to be better than this aftermarket pipe on it now.

Thanks,

the quietest exhaust will be the stock exhaust.

I don't know the part number of the bearings but it sounds like you need to change them NOW...don't ride anymore until you get that fixed!

There are swing arm bearings. if the axle doesn't move than the rear bearings should be fine. You will have to take off the whole swing arm and change them out to stop the play. Not a HAVE to but wouldn't hurt. fyi = pain in the ass to change bearings on an old bike...lol Best of luck

you can run a stock silencer on an aftermarket pipe,,, my daughters 250r has a FMF pipe with a stock silencer... it is quiet and still runs great,,,,

so if i read this right when you rock the bike side to side the tires and axle are staying planted in place and the carriers sliding back and forth on the axle?

if so then have you tried tightening up the axle nut yet? alot of the time the bearings will be fine but the axle nut has backed off allowing it to have side to side movement.

if it's what kjohnson was talking about and the swingarm is rocking side to side at the frame then you will have to get a new set of pivot bearings and possibly a new pivot tube also.

if you need bearings be sure to hit up dads on here. he sells all balls bearing sets and will know exactly what you need.

as for pipes i agree with kasey, i'd try the stock silencer trick before i went full stock.

Casacade has the quietest silencers out there with a bit of performance too. And they look nice, but are very pricey. Generally they will meet our 92 db max here in Oregon.
