If you bunch of yahoos had not gotten me so interested in 3 wheelers, I would not have bought another one today. Ok, I have just gotten past the "almost get divorced over it" argument, and now I am in here at the computer relaxing and collecting myself over it.:D :D :D

I knew the "discussion" would come just as soon as I got home with it. I patiently took the anal mastication, all 30 minutes of it, then I humbled myself, kissed and made up.

Now I have an '82 model Honda 200sx to go with my '84 200x.

Shes a little rough around the edges, but she runs. She smokes a good bit, I see a ring job coming real soon. Maybe a valve job, oil is leaking from around the head, so I am not sure what the cause is just yet. And boy do I love the automatic transmision, really nice. I am only allowed to have one at the house, so I will have to put her in storage for a short while. (I gotta keep the queen happy ya know). She has brand new tires, and they look good. The seat is duct tape, but we know that this is easy to fix.

I was driving home from Home Depot, and I saw some guys loading it on a trailer, talking. I stopped and asked if it was for sale. One guy said that he had just bought it for $150.00, and I could have it for $200.00. I heard it run, drove it, and went to the ATM and got the money. What a STEAL! Yeah Baby!. I can't wait to restore it to a tee.

BTW Big Cheese, if I get divorced over this, I'm coming to stay with you!

Sounds like a great buy...I think you have a 200s.
They're great to ride, especially in the deep woods when you burn up the clutch on other machines.

Those things are pretty much bullet proof. I had a buddy over 200Ibs who rode the p!ss out of his, and it never quit!! What a steal!!:D

oddly enough, even though the 185"S" started in 1981, Honda didn't add the "S" to the 200 until 1984.
I had a 1983 ATC200.
Other than the ATC200E, which of course was the electric start "Big Red"....the ATC200 was the only other 200cc model in 1982.
Good news is that they shared parts with the 185S, and you should be able to find used parts pretty easy.
Of course not as easy as a 200X or 250R.

Alan,
I am finding this out as I surf around for miscellenous parts and stuff. I agree with what you say, it is simply the "200" , no vowelage would apply. I did not mention that it has no brakes, but these are little things that I can fix. For the money that I paid, I can certainly afford to repair a few things that are wrong with it. I believe that I like it a lot bette than the 200x, it is much easier to drive. I am definitely going to have the motor overhauled. I found a place on the internet somewhere that will exchange the motor for less than $300.00 or so. - Ted

Mine doesn't have any either...after you learn to do yours how about helping me out? :D

Hold up before you pay that $300. If all you need is a boring job you can do it yourself for WAY less.

I am going to put it in storage tomorrow, and run it every couple of weeks or so. As far as the rebuild goes, it smokes a good bit, oil is dripping out of the tail pipe some, and the head is leaking oil around the seal. The guy that I got it from thinks that it needs a new piston and rings. I kind of think that it needs a valve job, but I am no expert either. What do you think? I am not afraid to do whatever it needs in order to make it run well. As for the brakes, I could probably do something with the front, but the rear has to have a foot pedal, the original one is gone.

My more immediate goal is to get the 200X running again. It has been down for a week or so, and is bugging me a little. - Ted
