When you loosen the locknut and adjust the "screw" by turning it counter clockwise until slight resistance, then turning it 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn clockwise and locking the nut back down WHAT are you actually adjusting (freeplay?) and whats the result of it being too tight or too loose?

Thanks

The adjustment isnt actually for the centrifical clutch. It is for your main clutch pack. It is so you can readjust your clutch as it wears down. As the disc get worn then have more play in them and start to slip. So the adjustment will help to take the slack out of them.

thanks Fuzzy, if the adjustment screw is "tighter" (not turned as far clockwise) will this cause the trike to creep in gear?

Yes it can. The way i can tell if it is right is when you get on the gas hard. It will usally slip bad. And then when you let off the gas it will grab again.

The centrifical clutch is strickly for starting out. If it seems like it chugs a little when you start out then it could be a worn down centrifical. Once that engauges then the main clutch should engauge.

If you have tried to adjust it and it is still not working then it might be time to change clutch discs in it.

The good news is that the clutch discs themselfs are cheap like $8.00 for the whole set. The bad news is that the centrifical pads are spendy. There are 3 of them inside the drum and a set of them will run you $50.00. But you can get both of them and the gaskets from dennis kirk.
