i just rebuilt my carb today and i noticed that there were two different jet sizes. a 108 and a 110. Which one is better? I am not in the mountains or anything so i dont need to lean it out. i couldn't tell any differences in the hole size just looking at them but i know there has to be a difference.
Also ever since i swapped motors the thing wont run off of half choke. When i take it off half chocke it dies and if i keep th RPM"s up it pops real bad. i checked the timing and the valves so the only thing that i could think of was the carb needed to be rebuilt. I rebuilt it and it still does it. Any ideas???
first i would lower the clip on the slide needle. that will raze the needle to give it more fuel. see if you can get it to idle with out the chocke on or stop poping. if no help go to higher number on jets.

ITS RUNNING TO LEAN, THATS WHY IT POPS AND WONT IDLE, PUT THE 110 IN AND SEE IF IT GETS BETTER, YOU MIGHT HAVE TO GO BUY A 112 OR A 114 ONCE YOU GET THE POPING TO STOP THEN FINE TUNE USING THE CARB ADJ. TO ANSWER YOU QUESTION THE HIGHER THE # ON THE JET THE MORE FUEL IT PROVIDES. JETTING IS A GUESSING GAME THERE IS NO EXACT SCIENCE .

o.k i just put the 110 in and it made no difference. I moved my clip all the way up and it made a little difference. Now it likes to run in between half choke and off choke. Any ideas on what size jets i should go up to? should i get a big enough jet so that i can move my clip back down to the 2nd groove or is it going to hurt anything to just leave it up at the top?? If anyone could just give me a number to start out at that would help.

It sounds like your pilot jet is plugged. The main jet effect running from 1/2 to full throttle, the needle effects from 1/4 to 1/2 throttle, and the pilot jet is what adjusts the mixture from idle to 1/2 throttle. If the pilot jet is plugged, your trike would act as discribed.

i replaced the pilot jet i think. There was one in there that didn't come with the kit but all of the holes in it were clean. I have had the carb apart about 5 times and everytime i clean it and make sure all of the holes are clean. Could i have a burnt valve? I was told that i might but it seems to run too good to have a burnt valve. i just cant understand how taking the carb off of one engine and putting it on another would take this much changing.
did you probe the passages with a fine wire to make sure there is not a chunk of crap in one of them.

yeh i used a torch tip cleaner in all of the holes. Still nothing. Could this be from something other than the carb?? I am going to try and take about 8 plates off of my supertrapp and see if that helps.

For some reason your trike is runnin lean, thats why it needs choke. Have you checked the fuel flow?
yes a air leak will do the same thing. bad intake O-rings

what do you mean check the fuel flow? I am pretty sure that i dont have an air leak from the o rings. I will check the mainfold for holes.

you can try spraying carb cleaner around the carb area while it's running to check for leaks.
