I saw some stuff on cnn about terrorist attacking a nuclear power plant. I live like 2 miles from one. Ive seen it before and dont they have huge domes of concrete and steel over the reactors? How would they get something like that to rupture.cause it to melt down? or could they crash a plane into it and rupture it. I live near the one at the base of the mississippi river seems like that would be a cheap way to not only kill some people but scare the crap out of the rest of america. if they manage to blow the one up where i live......... I hope they have trikes in hell :lala: :demon: :lala:
:fire: :lala:

i spent six years in the navy working on nuclear power plants and now i work at a gas fired power plant in mississppi. yes they could crash a plane into the plant and cause alot of damage but mainly just scare alot of people. while i do worry about terrist attack i dont lose sleep over them blowing up the nation or even a city block with a nuclear power plant.

ok, first of all, a nuclear power plant burns the fuel, not blows it up, so they could run into one, and nothing would really happen cept the radiation might seep out, and then it wont do much damage as most of the stuff is kept away from the plant, so the little bit that did leak out would not cause very much damage as they use less of the nuclear stuff in one month than one bomb uses.

I never would have believed any person could hijack one airplane and fly it into a building. but there was 4 of them. I pray there will not be another attack, but I feel we must be over cautiously aware of more to come.
I for one small american say enuff is enuff. Americans arent pussies. I think we have the solution for their population problems! I mean for the love of GOD (GOD is what this is all about right?) can't there just be peace? don't do it or we Americans will strike hard. them camel jockeys must be all inbred, any idiot knows u need to get along with the biggest boy in town! am I right?
And if there is another attack, I hope as an american, whatever the sacafice, our country strikes hard, harder than it has ever struck before. I reckon if there werent none of them there might be a chance for peace. damn arabs always killing in the name of GOD, WTF is that ****? Killing in the name of GOD? How about "NOW YOU DONE PISSED ME OFF AND I'MM ABOUT TO KICK UR ASS".? Seems like a lot more reasonable to kill than in the name of GOD to me

Depending on when the plant was built will determine what type of damage will be done to the reactor. Most of plants in the US were built in the sixties, and were designed to take a hit from the largest plane then (not sure what that would be). Today the planes are alot bigger, and the destruction would be alot more severe. It would be highly unlikely that a meltdown would occur, but since most plants are on rivers, the radiation can go from minnesota all the way to louisiana. If there is a stiff wind, radiation can travel hundreds of miles. My father just retired about 5 years ago from a nuke plant, he was the plant manger, and I had asked him the same question. Hes glad hes retired now.

the one where i live near is at the end of the river but i dont know if there are more up stream im sure there are. Think of the wildlife and how devistating that would be if that stuff drained off into the river. I imagine alot of the water suply comes from the river not only that im not nuclear scientist or anything but i imagine it would be a very messy thing. I wonder how far and how much it would polute would it be ok once it reached the gulf or would the radio active waste still be toxic? I know if it happend it would be horible. Are the plants usauly in sort of a bowl? Like are they dug into the ground so incase something like this happend it would not reach the water?:ugh:
