View Full Version : Help: Part II
Okay as you all know i was havin problems with my 85 250r, it keep floodin out so i took the carb off again for the 100 thousandth time and blowed the crap out of it with a air compressor for about 10 minutes:D and when i treyed to start it it fired up after a few kicks and took off like a bat out of he!!, but when i pull the clutch in to slow down it revs to the moon and it doesnt matter if i play around with the idle adjustment it still revs high, i drove it for a few minutes and stopped and shut it off. I tryed to start it again and it fired right away and started revin high again, i disconnected the primer hose by the tube coming out of the petcock to see if my primer was causin all the flooding, would that have anything to do with the revin high or not? could there still be a lot of gas that im burning up inside the engine?
Thanx

Have you used any enigine degreesers? I used some on mine and i did not read the directions go figure :bash:. Right when i start it, it reved to the moon as you would say it. The directions say to tape off the carb and electrical. By the time i read this i had pulled the plug cable hit the kill switch about a 100 times then turned the fuel off and it still was racen. It raced untill all the rezidue in side the carb burned out. i would say make sure next tiem you take it out spray it with some carb cleaner or maybe wipe it down with some strait gas. Just a idea probly not the case with yours. Good luck.

tsk, tsk, tsk.............sucks to be YOU! Heres a thought, if you want something that you can drive, get a car. If you want something a.t.v.ish you can just jump on and ride, get a fukking new Polaris Trail Boss. Being new, it SHOULD run. It is 2 wheel drive, automatic, and small, with electric start and reverse, so hopefully even a girl like you could run it. Actually, maybe you should stick to four strokes. I have room in my garage for another kick ass 250R, so, bring it to me. No doubt I would have it running in a day, unless I needed parts. Its time for a little reverse action..........Slontchyaa!!:demon:
:2finger: j/k i was just jokin, im not going to sell it, its just the person i bought it from said he had the whooe thing rebuilt and the day i bring it home it starts breakin:mad: whats wrong!!!!!!!!! it wont even start now
So what the hell do you think the R after the 250 stands for race . No REPAIR :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :D

Alright, start with spark. Does it have any? I DO hope you know how to pull the spark plug out. How strong is the spark? Have a dumbass hang on to the plug tight as you kick the beast over with the kill switch to the "ON" position. If he lights up like a christmas tree, it's good. Move on to fuel. Make sure there is some in the tank, and the fuel petcock lever is pointing to "ON" or "RES" position. Is it getting fuel? If not, get it some. If it has spark, and it is getting fuel, and still won't start, pull the carb off and clean it out good. Make sure there is no fuel sloshing around in the floats. Make sure the air breather is clean when you put it all back together. If it still won't start, I will try to help you more, or perhaps Kasey will. I would consider him an expert. Either way, if you want to run a 2 stroke, you better get educated on reeds, jetting, and, well, any thing you can that is relevant. A good start would be a Clymer or Hanes manual. They have trouble shooting sections, and will walk you through almost any work your beast will need.;)
