wire question

i have a 250 big red and i would like to know what the plug recepticule does. it is black and is about 2 inches tall and a inch wide and it is off the front of the bike . it has two prongs on the inside it. one is flat and the other is up and down. then it has two wholes on the side of it. it says up on the top andhas a positeve and a negative sign on the side of it.i am trying to describe it to the best of my ability but that is all there is.my question is what is it and what does it do.

Ya it's called a electric accessory connector. for spot light, radio, wormer handle grips, exc.
