well, again, not really a trike question but the answer could be applied to trikes....yea...i guess?

i have a holley 750 vaccuum secondary and the ******* float needle sticks open, allowing gas to pour out anywhere it can.

now, ive cleaned this stupid thing tons of times, each time reinstaling it spotless, and everytime having the same problems.

the carb was only like a month old and it was "such a deal" at the swap meet. now i can see why he got rid of it.

any ideas? i was thinking about drilling out the place where the float valve sits (to smooth out the inside incase theres any burrs or whatever), but is that really such a good idea?

It sounds like more of a float issue then the set itself. If it has a metal float take it out and shake it to hear if there is any gas in it. Some times they can get a pinhile in them and they will fill with gas and make then sink and not stop the fuel flow.

If it is a composit type. Go to the auto parts store and get a float scale. It is a little hand held scale for weighting the float. that can tell you if the float is sucking up gas and sinking.

If it is not the float itself. While having the top of the carb off lift up on the float and see if it is level when it is all the way up. If not there should be a little tab were it meets the needle and seat that you can bend until the float stops when it is level.
