View Full Version : No spark in 250r??????
Okay as you all know my thre wheeler was flooding itself out immediantly so i cleaned the carb and disconnected the primer, and then i got it started and it was revin to high and i couldnt do anything to help it, well now it stopped running and i just went out to replace plugs and i figured ill check to see how good of spark im gettin..NONE at all, it was running good and i shut it off and came out half hour later and tried to start it and it wouldnt cus there was no spark, any suggestion to check??
Thanx
Randy
take your coil(the thing that the spark plug wire is connected to )off and take it to honda dealer and have them check it. when i had no spark on my 200x i had to replace the stator ,i hope you dont have to cause that gets exspensive.150$for a 200x.also check all connections. they might have vibrated loose or something.

if it is the stator i have a spare 81-84. in fact i have a whole electrical system. i dont know where to tell you to start. i would start at the kill switch and go back. you have to close the circut for the kill switch to work so if you just follow it back into the wiring harness and un plug it that would eliminate it
Okay just got in from outside, i checked all connections and tried to get spark again..nothing, i tested the cap juice was running through it, i cut the end off of the wire coming from the coil and put the cap back on, i tested it with a new plug still nothing, i had juice going through the coil, what else to check???

are you sure it's not sparking? try holding the spark plug with your finger and kicking it over. what you can't see you can usually feel. ;)

by mistake i grabbed the mds 6al and msd blaster coil on my sunbeam tiger one day. the next thing i knew i was laying on the ground with a sprang ankle from the 40,000 volt spasm that went through my body. i could never get the nerv to do that again. :( i dont know much about electrical so i cant help you alot. it seems that if there is power up to the coil then the coil my be the problem

sounds like u have juice to the coil try changing the sparkplug wire or what plugs r u useing if you have stock wires and are useing ngk or regular champs you should be ok but if u are useing champ power sports they don't make a good connection in the plug boot tha big cap doesnt fit in the boot all the way and it isn't removeable.

Ouch, i think i mistated myself, i dont have spark to my coil, i took my coil off to see if it was fried but when i put it on a voltage tester it had power going through it so i dont have any spark? I also dont have spark to my cap either i just took them all off to test them with a voltage tester, i am using NGK plugs-brand new, so do i check the points or what

you are checking for power while turning the motor over right? b/c with no battery they won't be getting anything unless the engine is turning.
