The reason I did the restoration when i did was because I broke the shiftshaft off. I finished the resto, took alot of picts. When I started it up I have had 1 thing after the other go wrong. First the cluch, then the kicker, now the shifter.
After removing the cluch cover 7 times.... I have solved the kicker troubles, I needed to set the timeing marks on the kicker gear, and it was missing the outer washer. The cluch problem is that the basket is not seated all the way down, I think the missing kicker washer is behind the basket(not me that did it). The shifter problem is the little spring that holds the 2 plates (on the shiftshaft) fell off. I need to get the basket off to fix that. The shop that did the work WILL be giving me my $$ back!!
