Just curious how many people have titles for there 3wheelers.

I have one for the 350x I had stolen from me. I've started looking for a replacement for it, but am finding most people don't have titles for theres.

I don't have titles for any of mine. For a long time I didn't even know they came with one. We don't have to register ours around here so it's never been an issue.

Well I got one with my X. Never had a need for it till our trip to Canada. Took it with me just in case I needed to prove ownership coming back in the states. Good thing I did. It was stolen in Ontario. Good thing I did have it with me, I don't think the police up there would have even talked to me if I didn't have it.

No titles for any of mine! But here in wisconsin all you have to do is have the serial # and I think a bill of sale to register it!

It just depends on the state. I have bought atv's in wisconsin, where they dont give a title when they are bought new, just a bill of sale. Went to register in MN where a title is required, they copy all the info (bill of sale, serial #, etc) and make a MN title for the atv and send it to you.

Hrmmm the only time we need a title is if the CAR is 1989 or later. We register with the ohrv sticker that cost about 37 bucks and then we are told to stay off the trail so we don't wreck it for the f**Ken :fire: Snowmobiles. But no we do not need a title all we need it the VIN.

So if your trike was stolen, how would you prove ownership?

When you buy the OHRV Sticker you get a little peice of paper (registration), it has the vin, color, date of manufacture. Also it is noterized and put in a computer database i think. So if someone tries to register and its stolen the it puts up a red flag. I beleive that is how are system works. But i have a little peice of paper that stays in my wallet and that is what proves i own my machine. :D

On my 350X it did not come with a Title from Factory... BUT in Michigan it is REQUIRED to have a title AND you need to obtain one thru the Secretary O' State. I still have not gotten mine but there is the scoop...
Did not come with a title but you can get one for it, for theft reasons they said.

NOW... I know it happened before.. Does anyone have a "street legal" ATC ??
I saw it once in Three Wheeler Magazine, a guy riding a ATC 250R down the highway in California. Here in Michigan i could almost get away with it except for the "must have a differential" clause. I know a few Kaw work bikes had Diffs in them but ATC 250R does not... (Unless I can convince the officer that the big section on my swingarm is a really tight limited slip diff...)

Back in 1986 when my buddy and I bought are atvs(he got a 85 250r and I got a 85 350x) the guy he got his 250r from had it licensed and was ridding it on the streets fo St Joe Missouri.

He said the cops gave him a lot of trouble over it. But he got it licensed. It had lawnmower tires on the back, it was the only ones he could find to fit it that didn't say Not DOT approved.

NO TITLE BUT I DO HAVE REGISTRATIONS FOR BOTH OF MY TRIKES

TELL ME HOW STUPID THIS SOUNDS

NYS LAW SAYS:
1) ALL MOTORIZED VEHICLES IN NY HAVE TO BE REGISTERED EVEN IF YOU ONLY USE IT ON YOUR OWN PROPERTY.(MUST BE DEEDED TO YOU)
2) IF YOU RIDE OFF YOUR PROPERTY IT HAS TO HAVE INSURANCE
3) YOU CANNOT RIDE ON STATE TRAILS, SEASONAL ROADS, OR ANY WHERE THAT IS OWNED BY THE STATE OF NY
UNLESS POSTED OTHERWISE (ASK NY STATE WHERE U CAN RIDE...THEY TOLD ME PRIVATE PROPERTY ONLY)OF COURSE THEY SAID TO GET PERMISSION FROM THE LAND OWNER.

MOTORCYCLES(DIRT BIKES) AND SLEDS (SNOMOBILES) THEY CAN RIDE ON ANY STATE LAND UNLESS IT IS OTHERWISE POSTED

Ed Grimly LOL where at in Mich are you from? I'm near Flint.

I had to get mine titled in Mich. also. you didn't have to a while ago so when I went to the sec o' state to get the reg. transfered (the original from 85) they asked me how much I paid and, without even thinking they were going to charge me sales tax to transfer a reg., she printed up a title and said that will be $30:wtf: I was pretty pissed I was just thinking it would be like $7 oh well.

Well this is the first off road vehicle that I have gotten with a title(84 YTM 225DX) and its currently registered, and I plan to keep getting my green sticker so in case I want to ride on state prop. I can, becuase unless you know the right people you MUST have a green sticker in CA. I'm not sure what it takes to get one, as I said I got the title when I bought my trike, good thing I guess:D

No title or regestration in north carolina. You get a bill of sale and a certificate of orgin, which looks like a title on orv's. You have to have them if you want to trade it in to a dealer to prove ownership. I know you can get a title for a dirtbike by paying a fee and sending info to new jersey I think so it can be made street legal. I was going to do this on my kdx200. I don't think it would be safe to ride a 3wheeler with out a differenial on pavement. I remember some 3wheeler's had one's you could lock or unlock the rear. I don't think honda had one though.:)
