Hi welcome to the board....Lets start with first things first, Which trike you have...Go to the trike look on the neck on the left handside(I believe) under the handle bars.. is some letters and #'s If you can write these down and give us that. We can tell you which trike you have. Then the pro's should be able to help you with locating best oils and what nots for it......

If you look at the steering stem it should have a tag on it that says what year it is. It is probable a 85 because they quite making them 87. But to tell for sure you can tell the year by how many gears it has in the tranny, If it is a 5 speed it is a 83-85 200x. If it is a 6 speed then it is either a 86-87 200x.
A lot of the parts are still available from honda. www.servicehonda.com and a lot of aftermarket parts are available at www.denniskirk.com
You should get motor cycle oil for the motor. The motor and tranny share the same fluid. Right around 1 quart should take care of it. And the motor cycle oil has additives that keep the clutch plates from wearing out. But you can also get by with 10w30 auto oil. But it will add some wear to the cluch disc`s.
As far as a manual. You can still get a honda repair manual from service honda. Or a after market clymers from dennis kirk. Many are available on ebay both honda and aftermarket.
Good luck with it. I think your kids will love it.

welcome to the board. if you can't find your id tag then tell us what color the seat and fenders are. that can narrow it down to w/in a year or so. red fenders is 83-85. white fenders are on '86-7.
blue seat on '85-87, black on '83-5.
make sure you change that oil soon. I'd run 10w40 or if it gets real hot where you live 20w50 is ok in the summer.

Red Fender, blue seat with 200x on the side makes it a 85. Its a good trike. The shift pattern is 1 down and 4 up. That means that from neutral you push the shifter down once to go to first gear, the you pull the shifter up four times to shift to second through 5th. Basicly you push the shifter down for a lower gear, and pull it up for a higher gear. Neutral is between first and second.
I second the recommendation for 10-40 motorcycle oil. If it is smoking, you may need rings and valve seals.
This is a 4 stroke trike, so you do run stright gas no mix.
If you can get to a digital camera, snap a couple of pics and post them. We can all help you better then. If you have trouble posting pics, email them to me ATCnut@attbi.com
