I've got an 85 Suzuki ALT 125. It runs really well most of the time, but everynow and then it boggs down pretty bad. I think it may be a timing issue. I believe it starts to run hot of i continue to ride it like that. It will stay bogged down and then come back to life for some reason. When it happens, i try differnet things to make it come out of it, but i haven't found anthing that really works.
What are your thoughts on it??
Thanks

I'm thinking it's not timing, because if the timing gets off,
it should stay off, not come and go - and it should
barely run at all . . . and a carb issue, like mixture off
or clogged, should also get bad and stay bad. . . .
If it were me, I'd pull the plug while it's acting up and see
what it looks like. Maybe , if it's fouling intermittently,
you can switch heat ranges and get it to run consistently.
I always get it backwards on heat ranges, though, so
get someone that knows what they are talking about to
tell you which direction to head on that. . . . if that's even
what the problem is . . . .

So what are the different things that you have tried to get it stop bogging down?...Im would do some compression tests on it...

Tried letting it idle for a while, running down the road at an east pace because it seems like its running hot, stopped and restarted. Just little things like that. I have cleaned the carb numerous time. That was on of my first thought. I'm going to buy a carb rebuild kit soon, but the carb is in decent shape the way it it.
When it boggs down, I can't even rev it up past a certain limit. I't not as strong on the low end, but it's still ridable.
then all of a sudden it will go away just like when it started...

I think I may have found my problem. The top line coming off my carb was to close to my exaust and was melting closed. I think that when it got hot enough and closed enough, then it would bog down. I don't really understand why it would open back up though... it was the line that feeds air to the bowl.
Thanks
