I know this isnt trike related, but a friend of mine just got a honda shadow really cheap and wants to beable to ride it soon, so i came to you guys for help........ his motor runs fine, except he said it backfires when it is ideling, has good throttle response, and revs correctly when you twist the throttle, but if you twist it twice quickly, or loading up the spark with gas, it will backfire, i think he is running it to rich, but i have not seen the bike yet, so i cant say for sure, im just going off of what he has told me, so does anybode have any idea what could be wrong, or any experience with these bikes? thanks in advance for any help...

I think there is some sort of circuit on the carb(s) on
big twins to lean it out when the throttle is shut
abruptly - to prevent excessive engine braking while
deccelerating -

If there is, and if it's not working, that would give
the symptoms you decribe. I'm really guessing here . . . .

My dads '74 CB 550 Four did that, have him rebuild the carbs and adjust the float levels or, just adjust the float levels thats what it sounds like to me.
