kick slipage

I am looking to repair a skip in my kick start shaft on a 84 200x. Does this require spliting the case? Is there an easy fix? RJThoma2@scj.com

I JUST DID THIS TO MY 85 YES YOU HAVE TO SPLIT THE CASES, YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE PRIMARY GEAR AND THE RATCHET I PAID ABOUT $125 FOR BOTHH GEARS AND THE GASKET SET..
