200X Lost 2nd gear, split case, nothing broken/bent, WTF?

Well, I got my manual and spanner wrench and proceeded to split my engine case, I was rather hoping to find something broken or bent that was obviouse, but nothing! When i was riding I could use gears 1 3 4 & 5 but second would either kind of grind or skip into third, first thought was broken second gear, but thinking about it, it sounded more like a bent shift fork, but I see absolutely no problem in the tranny, go figure.

Anyone got any Ideas??? Just throw em out there I need to check stuff, I really dont wanna spend all the time replacing stuff and putting her back together and find out when its back together that I didn't solve the problem, I think I may just buy new shift forks for the heck of it cause I tend to be hard on the shifter (clutchless shifting and such)

IMHO i would take it to a shop and tell me whats wrong, then i would buy the parts and fix it myself, that way they dont screw it over and you save a lot of money in labor, you could spend 100's of dollars replacing stuff that doesnt need to be fixed and find out that it still does it.
