Picked up a 1985 200x, previous owner broke the cover on the fluid reservoir for the back brakes, been dry for a long time by appearances. Needless to say, rear brakes no longer work. How hard is it to rebuild one of these puppies, anything to lookout for?
Also, does anyone sell rebuild kits for these (parts kit or whatever is needed to rebuild a complete caliper)

It's a piece of cake to rebuild the caliper. When you get it apart you will see that there is not too much to them. I think Dennis Kirk sells rebuild kits.

make sure you get some of that fine grit paper that auto parts stores sell by the roll to gently sand the inside of the caliper once you get the piston out. after that make sure you flush it THOROUGHLY before putting it all back together.

if the piston is stuck you may need to get an air hose and push it against the inlet to blow out the piston.

When you do this- the piston can come out of there with some serious force- having digits in the way would be very bad! Mine made a POP that startled me when I did it awhile back!

Checked on the Dennis Kirk site and all they show is rebuild kits for the 83-86 250r, I know some people list them on ebay as being the same caliper on the 200x and 250r but are they really the same or just have the same bolt patterns. I guess what I'm asking is will the rebuild kit for the 250r's caliperwork on the 200x's caliper
