"It runs great its just that the timing is off":bs: my cheap lil $200 83 ATC 200 has taken more time money and effort than i expected. I should have known it was too good to be true. Here is what we discovered upon further investigation, someone used silicone for the base and head gasket:salute: you think theyd figure out somewhere between the first and fourth cam they put in the thing:doh: wouldnt ya think? so far i have replaced all gaskets the cam the rings the piston now we got it taken apart to check and make sure the oil pump is working properly (ports were ALL full of silicone) I almost went to the guy i bought it from and said :upyours: but instead i asked him :wtf: is up with that? I thought it only needed the timing adjusted? He said and Oh God this sux if he had told me earlier I would have shied away "Well my kids worked on it":bash:  :fire: :salute: :wtf: Do things ALWAYS go this way or does someone upstairs save it just for poor old me? Have to go tomorrow and pick up the gaskets for the clutch etc. Hopefully by the weekend I can take my frustration out on the trike. I best not I just may blow the thing up with my luck!!!

I think we have all had at least one of them good deal. Sometimes when things sound to good to be true they usally are.

But like Kasey said. You should have it about all fixed up now. And at least you know what all is into it now.

My 82 200 i paid $750.00 for because it was all gone through. So starting at $200.00 You could put a bunch of money into it and still have a good deal.

Been there buddy, I'm going through a similar situation right now with my "swapmeet 70" project, shocking how dumb people can be when it comes to these things.

Like Fuzzy said, we've all been there, the only good thing is once in a while, if we're lucky we really do stumble across an incredible deal. I guess that makes-up for at least some of the not so good ones.

which I guess is what keeps hope alive.

My $150 200M turned out to have nothing more wrong
with it than what was obvious ( which was plenty, believe
me ). All cosmetics, it turned out, and nothing mechanical
except the missing brake pedal.

my new $200 M is turning out to have a messed up front
wheel. Not sure what else, because I haven't got too
deep into it.

I think the key is I bought the first one from someone I knew -
I would say that on real bottom-dollar stuff, knowing the seller
helps tremendously . . .
