Ok guys here is the problem. I am running to Dennis kirk tomorrow to pick up some parts. And i need a rebuild kit for my front master cyl badly. I broke the pistom trying to get the old rusty clip off of it. And they dont list a kit for the 83-85 200x but they do list a kit for the 86-87 200x. So i know that the resevoirs are different the 83-85 was detachable and the 86-87 models it was all one unit. so my question is. Is the piston the same size. I figure they dont list the kit for the 83-85 because it would come with a few extra pieces. Like the new oring for the resevoir. So can i use the 86-87 kit. Has any one tried it?. Or has anyone switched pistons between the two different ones?. Any help please.
OK Fuzzy this is what I come up with . the master cyl.s are differant. Calipers are the same . master cyl set 83 to 85 part # 45530-166-305 , 86 to 87 set part # 45530-471-831 . this is on partsfish, they say they have both but that don't meen there not out of stock items. Good luck:thumbsup:

I know the kit numbers are different. Because of the 83-85 using a removable resevoir. But was wondering if they both use the same piston. That is all i really need. And the kit for the 86-87 is only $17.95 at dennis kirk. Other wise the kit from honda is like $35.00-$40.00 for the 83-85 models.
two differant part numbers ,two differant parts ,some thing was change. length of through OD of plunger in a case like that you would need two plunger sets to see the differance. ( preferably old used parts cheeper that way. I just went to the one pease master . I had pobs with two two peace res. leeking from old age.

Yea i am guessing the only difference is a couple of o-rings in the kit. For the resavoir. And i was thinking of buying one of them master cyl guards that you see on ebay all the time. And i supose that after i buy the rebuild kit and the guard. I might as well have bought a newer one piece master cyl. Then i wouldnt have to worrie about the guard. But i went to dennis kirk and they were out of the kits for the 86/87 200x. So i couldnt see if the piston was the same or not. But i did check prices at service honda and they have the kit for mine for $22.14 plus freight. So i guess i will probable just order it from them. And at least know mine is rebuilt and good for many more years. Thanks for the help dads :D.
