How do you time a cam in a 86 350x motor I can not find a manual so this is my last resort.

I'll try to get you a scan from the Honda 350x shop manual on how to do it tommorow (sunday). If I remember. Did honda quit making the manuals?

This is from the shop manual:

Align the "T" mark on the flywheel with the index mark on the alternator cover by turning the flywheel counerclockwise.

Apply molybdenum disulfide grease to the camshaft journals.

Install the cam sprocket with its punch mark facing up and install the camshaft and end cap.

Position the cam lobes down and align the timing marks on the cam sprocket with the cyclinder head upper surface.

Install the cam chaing over the cam sprocket and the cam sprocket onto the shoulder of the camshaft.

Tighen the cam sprocket bolt.

Note: Tighten the punch mark side first since it is the dowel hole.

Turn the crankshaft counterclockwise one turn and tighten the remaining cam sprocket bolt to the same torque. Torque: 17-23 Nm (1.7-2.3 kg-m, 12-17 ft-lb)

Realign the "T" mark with index mark and recheck the cam sprocket timing marks.

Fill the oil pocket in the cyclinder head with fresh oil.

From the looks of the picture there is two timing marks on the cam side of the cam sprocket, they should be horizontal and at the same incline as the head (parrallel with the head slope) the picture will help.
