I have a 1983 Honda 200E Big Red. In the manual it says to do a regular cam chain tension adjustment by taking off the rubber cover and loosening the ajuster bolt. then it says while engine is running the adjuster will automatically set the tension. then it says to tighten the screw back up. I did and now my cam chain knocks really loud the engine can barely run. what should i do?
You can try the old dirt bike trick. eng. off put it in first losen tentioner screw push back on the bike slowly till you feel eng. tension lock down screw. this puts all the slack in the back side of the chain were the tensioner is.

on my Yamaha it says to take off the cap, loosen the locknut and turn the bike on, then adjust it so that the little rod comming through if comming out flush with the end of the hole.
