Has anyone changed their pivot bearings in their swingarm??Are they hard to replace? How do I get the old ones out without wrecking stuff? Any tips or advice would be appreciated.. Thanks..

Its on a 200x. I started doing it yesterday and the pivot bolt wouldnt come out, so had to cut the ends off of the bolt.. Then I got a B.A.M.F.H. and a piece of old metal, and hammered the $hit out of the old bolt, and with the help of some rust breaker and alot of trying to spin the bolt with vise grips I got it out.... The bearings were destroyed in there.. Most of the bearings just fell out... But what didnt is completely rusted to the swingarm... Is there some kind of retainer that makes it so you cant put the bearings in too far??? I cant tell, and I dont want to ruin anyting, trying to get the old rusty ones out... Any advice???

Hey, my sx was a real problem. I had to use a pully puller it hooked on the inside edge. instead of a conventional puller its hooks were on the outside and you forced them out and i hooked them on the broken peice of retainer and heated them up and pulled them out. the puller was on a slide hammer and it took my fater and i a long time to get them out. but an 200x might be diffrent. good luck.

I got the swingarm off and everything taken apart.. Holy $hit was everthing rusty. The old bearings just crumbled out.... So now here is the question; I didn even buy the new bearings yet, but when I get them, how do I put them in?? There are two metal pieces that form a groove that the bearings fit in, how do I get the bearing past the first ring? Do I make it so there is only on piece of metal behind the bearing, that keeps it from being pushed in too far?? Do I just grind the first metal piece off? If you understand what I'm talking about any help would be greatly appreciated.... Thanks.

you haven't mentioned the steel tube that goes in the pivot end, it's a hardened steel tube that the bearings ride on and the pivot bolt goes thru. if the outside of it is rusted at all where the bearings go replace it now or you'll ruin the new bearings. it's about $25 from honda
