please help with200x

i just got done rebuilding the moter on my 83 200x and i can no longer get the kickstarter to disengage i noticed a crack in the crankcase so i replaced it i have also replaced the spring and have gone through the book numerous times and everything looks to be together corectly i have torn it apart about 8 times and i am very frustrated any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated
