  • timing chain adjustment

When adjusting the timing chain on my 84 200x, how much do you loosen the screw? Is it possible to loosen it too much where the screw comes out? Any help would be much appreciated. thanks. chris

To adjust timing have the X idleing. Loosen the 14mm nut, then tighten it, If you want to check and see if the tensioner is working you take out the smaller bolt and stick somthing down the hole and you can feel it move, if it springs back its working. I've found out that to adjust the chain so it doesn't rattle so much you need to take off the fly wheel cover and pry up on the tensioner (when the bike is turned off), then tighten the nut.
